About us

Welcome to Michelles School of Performing Arts!

Since our opening on October 2nd, 1993 we have remained dedicated to giving students an all-around training in all aspects of Performing arts. Our aim is to instill a love for dance and performing in all of our students, and we strive to nurture that love by offering a wide range of classes taught by experienced teachers who have a passion for both. We give our students the opportunity to showcase their talents at various events and performances, providing them a platform to not only show the world the skills they have learned but to also boost their confidence in front of an audience. From the moment the tiniest 'babes' come toddling through our doors, to pre-schoolers, juniors, and seniors, as well as adult learners, our classes are designed to cater to everyone, regardless of age or ability.

Meet the Team

At Michelle's School of Performing Arts, we have a team of passionate and enthusiastic teachers who are dedicated to providing your children with the best dance and performing arts education. We believe that every child has the potential to excel in the performing arts, and we strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where their creativity can grow and flourish. We offer a variety of classes at all levels to ensure that every child finds the perfect fit.

Principal MBBO

Michelle Hartree

Michelle has trained in all aspects of dance starting at the age of three as a Peter Pan starlet, and is a fully qualified teacher with the British Ballet Organisation (BBO). During her own dancing career, she has appeared on the West End stage, national television, numerous variety shows and has had several principal parts in local theatre and pantomime productions.

At one stage of her career, she was part of a professional fire-eating, sword-swallowing and sword walking cabaret act and even went on tour to Northern Ireland to entertain the troops! Since hanging up her professional dancing shoes, she has concentrated her energies on teaching dance and developing the talents of pupils in her school.

After 3 decades Michelle’s passion for teaching, dancing and performing is as enthusiastic as the first time she stepped onto the stage and into our hearts.

Natasha Bridge

Hello everyone, I'm Natasha Bridge, and my journey with Michelle's School of Performing Arts began as a wide-eyed 5-year-old, stepping into my very first dance class. Little did I know, that moment would shape my entire life. Being one of Miss Michelle's first students, I've had the privilege of growing alongside this wonderful school since its inception in 1993. Fast forward to today, and I'm still here, pouring my heart and soul into every step I take.

Tap dancing holds a special place in my heart – the rhythm, the joy, it's like music for the feet. And speaking of music, there's nothing quite like the magic of the West End, with 'Wicked' stealing the show every time.

But Michelle's School of Performing Arts isn't just like any other school – it's a family. We laugh together, we learn together, and we grow together.

My love for the performing arts runs deep. It led me to study musical theatre and technical wizardry in college, where I honed my craft and discovered my true passion. Now, with three beautiful children of my own, one of whom shares my love for dance, and a supportive husband who's always there to lend a hand backstage, I feel truly blessed.

Teaching dance isn't just a job for me – it's a calling, a way of sharing the joy and beauty of movement with the world. I'm grateful for every moment spent in the studio, inspiring the next generation of dancers to reach for the stars. Here's to many more years of love, laughter, and endless twirls!"

Kimberley Brown

Hi there,
I’m Miss Kimberley! I have been dancing with Miss Michelle since I was 3 years old. Michelle’s School of Performing arts is a home away from home. Specialising in ballet, tap, jazz and musical theatre with shows to showcase all of our hard work as well. With a BA honours degree in dance education to give me the confidence to teach with pride.

My favourite style to teach is jazz! Having the chance to express and create new variations and routines. Tap is another favourite of me the sounds that echo through the studio is enough to make your ears tingle.

Being a part of MSPA makes my life all the bit brighter and teaching everyone and I love seeing them all grow into the creative people they are today.

Musical Theatre Teacher

Megan Thompson

Hi, I’m Megan! I’ve been working with MSPA for just over a year now and I’ve loved every second! I’ve been doing musical theatre since I was 10 and singing since I can remember! This later lead me to a 1st class degree in Musical Theatre, performing small gigs locally and co writing and singing on an EP.
I love working with the children at MSPA to create a safe space for them to explore singing and acting so that they can shine on the stage and beyond. Whether we’re learning singing techniques or exploring new characters, everyday is a new adventure.
My favourite thing in musical theatre is the singing and I love show work!

Olivia Coombs

Hello everyone, I'm Miss Olivia and I've had the pleasure of teaching at Michelle's School of Performing Arts for about 4 years now. My journey with MSPA began when I was a timid two-year-old full of energy and a strong desire to express myself through movement. Right from the beginning, I knew I wanted to be a part of this amazing community.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to support and nurture our children as they blossom into beautiful dancers. Not only do I get to teach them dance skills, but I also have the privilege of imparting important life lessons and being a listening ear for them.

Our school has truly transformed me into the woman I am today. It has provided me with countless opportunities to enhance my dance and performing abilities, empowering me with the knowledge and skills to inspire the next generation.
